Private key storage: what to do and what to never do

Never do this

Never store keys or seed phrases in cloud notes, email, chat, screenshots, or any online-synced app. Never type them into a website.

Do this instead

Record them offline on paper or steel, keep redundant copies in separate secure locations, and consider a hardware wallet for daily use.

Test your backup

Confirm you can actually restore from your backup before relying on it. A backup you cannot restore is not a backup.
